On Tuesday, Feb. 15, just after 6 p.m., Stephanie Martinez arrived at the KinderCare Child Care Center in Plantation and it looked closed. Samantha Scaramellino, who is the little girl’s aunt, told Local 10 News that Martinez had called her hoping that she had picked up 2-year-old Anastasia at the daycare. Scaramellino said she told Martinez she did not have her niece. That’s when Martinez saw her daughter inside the daycare alone, peering out of a door’s window, and she called 911. “She is inside the daycare. She just came up to the door,” Martinez told the dispatcher. The dispatcher asked: “She is inside by herself?” Martinez said: “Yes, she’s crying. She’s inside by herself.”

Lindsey Pearlman, a TV actress who appeared in “General Hospital” and “Empire” among other shows, was found dead Friday in Los Angeles. She was 43. Pearlman had been missing since Feb. 13, according to Los Angeles police. Her cause of death has not yet been determined. The county coroner will investigate.

Jasmine Martinez allegedly used the federal Paycheck Protection Program to pay a gunman who fatally shot Le’Shonte Jones and wounded her 3-year-old son in a broad daylight attack outside her Miami apartment on May 3, 2021,  Martinez had withdrawn more than $10,000 in the days before the shooting, after she netted $15,000 from the federal government she applied for to help her single-employee beauty salon, according to an arrest warrant cited by the Miami Herald. Police also arrested alleged middle man Romiel Robinson and hitman, Javon Carter, in relation to the murder of Jones, a Transportation Security Administration worker. Carter had allegedly filmed a video of himself counting cash just hours after Jones was shot multiple times, according to arrest warrants .

National civil rights attorney Ben Crump, along with a NYC-based law firm, is filing a lawsuit on behalf of the Bronx fire victims who survived the Bronx apartment fire that claimed the lives of 17 people last month. In a statement to the Black Information Network, Crump said that the lawsuit is about “holding those responsible accountable and ensuring that no community has to suffer a loss like this again.” The lawsuit for the Bronx fire victims is specifically being filed on behalf of four families whose children and loved ones either died or were hospitalized as a result of the January 9 high-rise apartment fire. Nipsey Hussle’s family has announced they will open “the Marathon Clothing store No. 2” in Los Angeles this year, which was a longtime goal for the late MC. “This second location is a dream that Nipsey always had, and it’s important that his kids are able to see his plans fulfilled,” Samiel Asghedom, Hussle’s older brother, told the Guardian.
